G.H. Bass & Co. began in 1876 as its founder, George Henry Bass, ventured into the industry with the simple goal of crafting the best shoe in the market. In 1936, the brand adopted the basic style of the Norwegian farm shoe that was original intended for loafing fields, and transformed the details to create their own unique aesthetic - this in turn, resulted in the very first penny loafer being born. Adopting the name of Weejuns, these iconic shoes have held a place in a wide spectrum of places and people; creating a unique style that has been featured in cultures far and wide.
